Cyanotype workshop with Kasia Wozniak

£70.00
sold out

Join photographic artist Kasia Wozniak at Kindred House for an introduction to the process of cyanotype and create your own botanical prints.

The Cyanotype process was first published by the astronomer Sir John Herschel in 1842 to create ‘blueprints’ of his notes and drawings. In 1843 Anna Atkins published a book called “Photographs of British Algae", which first recorded the use of Cyanotypes for botanical purposes.

During this workshop, you will be introduced to the basics of this historical printing process, known as 'blueprint'. You will learn all about the chemistry behind the process and how to coat your own paper with a light sensitive solution. By laying out various different found or collected objects directly on to the paper and exposing it to the sunlight, you will create your own Prussian blue photograms.

If the weather allows, we will begin the workshop with a walk on the beach collecting found objects for our cyanotypes.

All materials for the workshop and refreshments will be provided.
