Ritual Lost Wax Retreat Weekend with House of Aquila

  • Kindred House Margate, United Kingdom (map)
from £240.00

This two day retreat is about getting out of your head and into your body. Over the weekend Aquila will guide you through various bodywork, drawing and tarot rituals to encourage connection with the self and help inform the creation of some beautiful pieces to adorn yourself with.

‘The body is such a creative tool and if we work with the body, we are able to unlock our creative self.’

The workshop runs from 11am-4pm on Saturday & Sunday & attendance on both days is required. The weekend welcomes all skill levels and is designed to be achievable by all.

Day 1

We will begin with connecting our bodies to the space with a moving meditation on the beach, using the natural surroundings as a way to connect inwards. We will then move back inside for tea and an introduction with a morning of automatic drawing to help loosen up.

The afternoon will be set up for still life drawing, alongside an introduction into the history and ritual of tarot, where we will also look to do some readings. There will be plenty of gorgeous books on hand for inspiration as we begin to find patterns and pathways to inform our work.

Day 2

On Sunday we will be looking at the different techniques of lost wax carving and the process of creating from wax into metal. We will experiment with different waxes to form our pieces which will eventually be cast in your choice of brass or silver.

Your work on the first day will inform your designs, using gathered imagery from your journey. You will be shown how to size and shape your pieces for best results.

The creation of two cast pieces is included in the price and you will receive your pieces back in the post three weeks after the retreat weekend. Any extra items created will be charged at extra cost for casting.

..

All materials, refreshments & a simple vegetarian lunch will be provided on each day over the weekend. Please feel free to bring along any inspirational items or anything to help inform your work, although not essential.

Please note: The workshop weekend is limited to 8 places to ensure a more intimate experience. If dates need to change, you’ll be able to swap to the new date or obtain a refund if you’re unable to make the new date. Should you need to cancel your booking, we will try our best to fill your spot, otherwise tickets are non-refundable.
