Our vision.

Founded by designer Natasha Lawless in 2020, Kindred House was created as a place to come & rest, to encourage creativity, to share & to learn.

Whilst houses can function as places of sanctuary, we also seek to connect within them. We invite our guests to be active participants in cultivating our community, as the house is offered not only as a space of retreat, but also to connect within.

Our workshops play a key role in the spirit of Kindred House, in crafting an environment that actively inspires & encourages connection, creativity & learning.

The spaces we inhabit can play an integral role in our lives. Kindred House aims to invite a gentle slowness to your stay & offer a space to tend to oneself & each other. All of the rooms are uniquely furnished & there is an emphasis on the use of natural materials throughout, encouraging an atmosphere of rest & calm. Much of the inspiration for the house has been taken from the coastline where we lie & Natasha has either made or sourced everything second-hand, (excluding towels & bedding), in our ongoing commitment to sustainability.

Kindred House is not about creating a perfect, polished ‘designer’ space, more of a feeling of a home environment, curated as a place designed to be full of life & activity, but most importantly where people feel at ease to be themselves. We are not a ‘boutique’ experience. Think less luxury & mod cons - more craft, creativity & character!

Outside of our events, the house is available to book & come to stay, or use as a location for photoshoots, filming, exhibitions or other projects. We welcome you to get in touch with your ideas & look forward to seeing how we can help!

Alongside our creative retreats, we also offer a residency programme for practising artists , as well as a curated collection of ‘soulful’ items for the home in our shop.

Still a work in progress & always thinking of new ways in which to use our space, the project continues to unfold, whilst we endevour to create a balance of quality, style & comfort with accessibility & inclusivity at heart.

About our founder.

Natasha’s background is as a homeware designer & maker. She has worked in interior & event design, as a pattern designer & printmaker, a buyer & sourcer of second-hand delights & as an interior stylist. She has also volunteered within the charity sector, working with refugees & various charity organisations, all within the realm of helping to create safe & accessible environments, offered with care & attention to detail. She believes it’s the little things that can make a big difference.

Her attraction to design was through her belief that it can play an integral role in enhancing people’s daily life & wellbeing. She has a particular interest in the therapeutic benefits of creativity as a vehicle for self-expression. In this way, the creative experience can be incredibly healing, as well as offer a space to explore & encourage intimacy & connection.

Kindred House was born out of her interest in the way that crafted environments can have a direct impact on how people feel & behave in a space. Also the co-owner of Aqua Oleum, an award-winning aromatherapy company, Natasha has an inherent respect for natural & holistic health. Kindred House, is the coming together of all of her passions, skills & interests under one roof.
